The Exhibition will be hosted during Koinè - Fiera di Vicenza, 25-27 October 2020 - in the “Fede & Devozione" area dedicated to devotional objects

Contemporary interpretations

Amid the great variety of devotional images that history and tradition handed down to us, the Cross or Crucifix are still widely disseminated and persist as the pre-eminent Christian religious object.

However, despite the fresh wind brought along by the Second Vatican Council, which also involved the Church’s artistic expression, the Crucifix representation has remained strongly attached to outdated iconographic models.

In 2020, in tune with Pope Francis’ missionary inspirations, “I dream of a missionary option, capable of transforming everything”, and with the Church’s pastoral plan in Vicenza, “Baptized and sent on mission in the World”, Koinè Ricerca’s Scientific Committee felt appropriate to organize an exhibition dedicated to the Cross, seen in two broader contexts:

- The missionary aspect that characterizes the contemporary Church
- The Glorious Crucified and Risen aspect, which accompanies the believers’ life

The Exhibition is curated by Prof. Angelomaria Alessio; for further info on this event, you can write to him at a.alessio@alessioconsulting.it
